What We Offer
Photography & Videography: Storytelling Through the Lens
This 8-week course introduces students to the art of visual storytelling. Through hands-on training in photography and videography, participants learn how to frame narratives, capture emotion, and communicate meaning through the lens. The curriculum emphasizes both technical skills and the creative process, helping students use imagery as a tool for self-expression and emotional exploration.
Digital Art: Creating Books on Emotions & Stories
In this 8-week digital art course, students explore creativity through the lens of emotional storytelling. Guided step-by-step, participants design and illustrate their own digital books that reflect journeys of navigating emotions, challenges, and personal stories. This program blends digital literacy with therapeutic art practices, empowering students to transform their inner experiences into tangible creative works.
Music & Poetry: Expressing Through Sound and Word
This 8-week course creates space for students to explore emotional expression through music and poetry. By combining rhythm, melody, and lyrical writing, participants develop confidence in sharing their voices and experiences. The program teaches both craft and performance, encouraging students to use art as a healthy outlet for self-reflection and storytelling.
Gear Over Guns: Empowering Youth Through Art and Healing
Gear Over Guns was born from the urgent reality that gun accessibility has deeply affected our neighborhoods, leaving too many young lives lost or scarred by violence. Our communities continue to grapple with the devastating impact of financial instability, emotional wounds, mental health struggles, and spiritual disconnection. These factors, compounded, often leave our youth vulnerable to cycles of harm perpetuated by their own peers.
Through this program, we sought to break that cycle—not with judgment, but with creativity, love, and empowerment. Gear Over Guns provided young people with a safe space to process their experiences and channel their voices into powerful forms of expression. Participants designed t-shirt graphics that told their stories, reflecting both their pain and their hope. Each piece of art became a statement: a declaration against violence and a vision for a future grounded in healing, unity, and love.
This initiative wasn’t just about art—it was about transformation. By giving our youth the tools to express themselves and share their perspectives, we encouraged them to imagine alternatives to violence. We showed them, and their communities, that love and creativity can shift mindsets, inspire resilience, and change the narrative from destruction to possibility.

Our youth presented a presentation of their experience through the process of the program that Tiffany Hines taught under MMBCDC.
ONSE Award
Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement awarded us for our first year due to the documentary we presented and the feedback from the youth.
I AM Ministry x E3
In collaboration with E3 Nonprofit, I AM Ministry students wrote an original song and learned videography — gaining confidence to direct, express themselves, and tell their stories through music and film.
Keeping Seniors Active & Creative
Every Wednesday, I AM Ministry hosted chair workouts and arts & crafts sessions designed especially for seniors in our community. These gatherings provided a joyful space where participants could stay active, keep their minds fresh, and explore their creativity.
At I AM Ministry, we believe seniors play a vital role in our communities, they are needed far more than many realize. By offering opportunities to exercise, connect, and create, we help ensure that our seniors remain engaged, inspired, and celebrated.
Because it’s never too late to get creative, and it’s always the right time to stay active.
